Enter His Gates!

First Lutheran Building Project Proposal

Our congregation's mission is to live as God's children, to be nurtured by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacrament, and to share our Savior, Jesus Christ, with all people. To continue that mission First Lutheran is launching a building project proposal: Enter His Gates!

As our congregation passes 152 years here in Elkhorn we stand with those generations who faithfully and intentionally participated in God’s glorious plan and have benefitted from His abundant gifts.

As we continue our journey at First Lutheran we have recognized a need and an opportunity to update our worship space so that we may elevate the worship experience and create an environment that is welcoming for both our members and guests. This project will also fund improvements to our school classrooms and gymnasium to ensure our facilities are safe and operating effectively. We also have the privilege to provide support for other ministries and missions beyond our walls.

Trusting in God’s plan we pray that First Lutheran can serve our members, our students, and the community and be a shining beacon of Christ’s love for generations to come.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name - Psalm 100:4-5

This is our theme for this project - Enter his Gates, Enter his Courts, and Give Thanks! This passage is a fantastic reminder that we do not own any part of the Lord's house. These are His gates we enter. These are His courts we praise in. This building that the past generations have poured their sweat, money, and tears into is a gift given from God!

It's an awesome thing to remember those thousands of adults and children who have worshiped and learned here. We have now been entrusted with the duty to maintain and improve these facilities for our future generations. Let’s embrace that privilege with the same energy the Elkhorn farmers did way back in 1884 when building the first church and again in 1974 when they built our current facilities and again in 1981 they opened the Lutheran elementary school.
